Placing Ferafeed across 500 ha.
Please come to help with our big baiting operation for the year. It involves putting Ferafeed (non-toxic) lure into bait stations, to lure the pests into eating it, then the following w/e we will replace the ferafeed with Feracol – which contains a toxin. This is to deal to the rats AND possums. There is lots of activity of both pests at the moment owing to the relatively dry summer and excellent fruiting season which has enabled very successive breeding (many possums have had two offspring this season). There is lots of native seed available to feed hungry mouths and we’d prefer these were eaten by natives NOT pests.
Arrive at the kohanga ready to go at 9am, and enjoy a morning cuppa and a chat before you head home at 12.
Please bring clothing and footwear suitable for walking both on and off track, gloves and pair of secateurs. We will provide you with a map and directions on what to do – you will be removing old bait placed in January and placing Ferafeed.
