Teaching tamariki and their whanau to be more kai resilient so that they know how to grow fresh organic kai. We teach them the whole process from seed saving right through to harvesting, composting and worm farming. This way they know the whole process, which we hope they take home and show their whanau. It also gives them a skill which they can use for life and in turn they will teach their own tamariki one day. We have found that growing your own food has skipped a generation and we feel that there is a big gap in knowledge. In teaching the tamariki we feel there will be a generation of tamariki in the Mount Maunganui, Papamoa, Paengaroa and Waihi Beach areas that will know how to grow their own kai and make the area more kai resilient in the future.

How to Help

  • Helping weed the gardens.
  • If you have special knowledge of plants, animals or gardening that you would like to share with the tamariki. The tamariki always love learning more from people with expert knowledge.
